Are you interested in writing centers? Each summer, the International Writing Centers Association Summer Institute brings together a diverse group of writing center leaders and participants for a week-long retreat dedicated to all things writing center. Next summer marks our tenth year, and we hope you’ll join us! Space is limited to the first 30 participants who register. Scholarship application deadlines are Feb. 10th, Mar. 10th, and Apr. 10th. Four of our nine scholarships are earmarked for K-12 and community college educators. For information about scholarships, click on the Registration tab above.

The Summer Institute is ideal for current or would-be writing center directors and assistants, writing program administrators, tutors, writing teachers (high school or college), curriculum developers, graduate students, new PhD’s, and academic leaders. The six institute leaders (to be announced) offer presentations, roundtable discussions on a variety of topics and issues. Leaders are available to talk one-on-one with participants throughout the week.

The 2012 Writing Center Summer Institute will be held July 29 – August 3, 2012 at Seven Springs Mountain Resort, located about one hour’s drive southeast of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the beautiful Laurel Mountain region of the U.S. Air travel is to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT).
